How to Apply for the 2025 Utrecht Excellence Scholarship
The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship (UES) is a highly selective programme for talented international students who wish to study for a bachelor’s or master’s degree at Utrecht University.
Scholarship Benefits and Duration
The Utrecht Excellence Netherlands Scholarship covers the selected candidates’ tuition as well as the cost of living expenses. The UES also offers a scholarship ranging from €5,000 to €17,000 per year to undergraduates.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Utrecht Excellence Netherlands Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
1. You must belong to the top 10% of your graduating class.
2. You must not hold an EU/EEA passport and not be eligible for support under the Dutch study grant and loan system.
3. You must have completed your secondary school and/or bachelor’s degree outside the Netherlands.
4. You must have applied for an international master’s programme with a start date of 1 September 2025.
5. You must have applied and been admitted to a UES-eligible bachelor’s program commencing in September 2025.

Scholarship Duration and Reward
The Utrecht Excellence scholarship can be awarded for a maximum of three years for undergraduate students and two years for master’s students. Selected candidates are offered a scholarship ranging from €5,000 to €17,000 per year for a maximum of 3 years.
To apply, candidates must be ready to submit the following documents

– Motivation Letter
– Statement Declaring Purpose
To apply for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship, interested and qualified candidates should:
1. Apply for admission to a bachelor’s or master’s program.
2. After submitting an application (or applications) for a UES-eligible bachelor’s or master’s program before the stated deadline, non-EU/EEA students will have the opportunity to submit an application for one Utrecht Excellence Scholarship.
3. You will see the UES application(s) in your OSIRIS Online Application account dashboard.
4. Click view/edit for the UES linked (related process) to the program you wish to apply for, upload the requested proof of belonging to the top 10% of your class or personal statement, answer the questions, and submit the application.
The deadline for applications is February 1, 2025.
